- Running after Jesus Event - Parenting Driven Event - A.W. Tozer asked in his timeless classic, The Pursuit of God, one of Christendom's most puzzling and niggling questions: "Why do some persons "find" God in a way other do not? Why does God manifest His Presence to some and let multitudes of others struggle along in the half-light of imperfect Christian experience...?" Responding he then distilled the whole of Christian practice, desire, and effort, into one singular & essential act: "The difference lies not with God but with us...they differed from the average person in that when they felt the inward longing they did something about it." Running after Jesus is an event structured to ignite within women through leadership, teaching, and inspiration, an all-consuming passion to know, follow hard after, and do something with Christ. It's a time unlike any other Julie has led over the past 11-years of ministry, as she pours out the remaining days of her life, talent, and gifting, in challenging and motivating those who are spiritually hungry to move forward, always forward, in obedient pursuit of Jesus Christ. We All Start Somewhere Dale Carnegie wisely observed that a person's name is to them the sweetest and most important sound in any language. The second sweetest, I submit, is the sound of an individual responding to this heartfelt directive: Tell me your story. We all have one. A story, that is. Some portions worthy of publication, others, well, not so much. We All Start Somewhere champions this magnificent truth: God sees you--me--and has in fact been pursuing us before time ever began. We long for Him and run after Him only as a result of His giving us life and drawing us with divine abandon to Himself. Hesitant Runners What keeps you from running hard after Jesus? Fear? Doubt? Laziness? Let's carefully examine factors such as shallow depth of biblical knowledge, faith, and commitment; as well as lives cluttered with so much stuff Jesus all but gets chocked out. Also, hyper-Christianity and a Christian sub-culture's reliance, and dare I say it, near idolization of "Professional Christians." Radiant Life If we cooperate with him in loving obedience, God will manifest himself to us, and that manifestation will be the difference between a nominal Christian life and a life radiant with the light of his face." ~A.W. Tozer The radiant life is a transformed life! Our decision to follow hard after Jesus allows Him to restore our life to the purposes, plans, and pleasures, He has created us to complete. The radiant life is dead to passivity and unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christian Women Who Think Many women are anxious to increase their knowledge when it comes to prayer, Bible knowledge, and an overall understanding of how scriptural truth can shape and influence their lives in the midst of day-to-day living. He is also the head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything." ~Colossians 1:17-18 Scandalous Grace for the Scorched Soul Isaiah 58:11, "The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your desire in your scorched places." It's all about recognizing the "scorched places" of our life; those dry, burnt, places of disappointment, failure, insecurity, and often times, sin & shame. It's recognizing, owning up to, and then allowing God to saturate our life with the refreshing, renewing, and restorative power of divine grace. And once that happens? Watch out! For all you'll want to do is tell other bent, broken, and bedraggled, men and women about what is possible through scandalous grace. Radical Forgiveness What does it mean to really forgive those who have hurt you? To forgive yourself for the dumb and painfully sinful things you've done? Or to let go of bitter feelings towards God for what He has (or seemingly hasn't) done?
